Rad777 Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 I've have bided at least 45+ times with $5 plus tactic each time with the following rangesPriceline:$$ 100-165Star 3.0 - 4.0 Dates: 10/25 - 10/29Area I want to stay in: Quincy or CopleyNO LUCK AT ALL. Any tips? Is there a particular date I need to remove from the time-frame that is somehow booked solid?Thank you
AaronJB Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 Unfortunately, this is a tough period in the city and rates are on the high (although thankfully not the worst I've seen in Boston) side. From the rates that I'm seeing right now in terms of HOTWIRE and regular rate, you're probably not terribly far off from a win. What would be your desired budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Rad777 Posted October 16, 2011 Author Report Posted October 16, 2011 I'm look to spend no more than $750 for the four nights so <$200/night including tax

AaronJB Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Yes, I tried up to 185 on 4* last night for 25 - 27 and no go. I received one of those " one time raise your price" of $229; closed browserIf you got a counter-offer, the actual required price could be anywhere between the counter-offer and last failed bid; hopefully the required win will be at $200 or under. thereuare Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 On HOTWIRE for 10/25-10/27:4.5* Boston Common $2594.5* Quincy Market $2494* Quincy Market $24310/27-10/294* Quincy Market $140Therefore if you went with the 4* for 10/27-10/29 at $140, you could then add any of the other hotels for 10/25-10/27 and come in at an average nightly rate of $200Similarly for:10/26-10/294* Quincy Market $188Then for 10/25-10/264* Quincy Market $2364* Copley $196This combination of 1nite/3nite would also meet your budget of under $200/niteOf course you could also continue to bid PRICELINE for these split dates as well.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
