colacc Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Going to LA with 5 and 8 year old. Since we've never been to LA, we really have no idea where to stay only hope it is convenient to go around the city. Need help to find a 3.5* or 4* hotel, prefer Downtown but wouldn't mind elsewhere as we will rent a car. Please help!
thereuare Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Please start by reading your messages.PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. colacc Posted October 7, 2011 Author Report Posted October 7, 2011 Thanks for the advice. I've tried Hotwire and it has Downtown 3* at $96. And my guess it is the Miyako Hotel, which only seems to be a 2.5* on Priceline. Besides it is 30 minutes walking to downtown. As we are going to rent a car anyway, maybe there are other locations we can consider. I can accept 3.5* although prefer the 4* Los Angeles (Downtown) Westin Bonaventure the most. However I am really worried about only getting one bed if we bid one room. my kids are young and need to stay with me so two rooms are kind of waste.Any further suggestion will be very much appreciated.
thereuare Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Others here are more local to the area then I am and can probably give some alternate suggestions (Beverly Hills-West Hollywood is frequently bid in this region), but let us know your maximum budget per nite as that may be a factor when considering alternate areas. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
