Bill - LAX
Hi all.Just wanted to let you know that for the dates of 11/15 through 11/20 (in single or grouped nights stays), Priceline rejected my offers up to 220 for 5* (I believe only the Theatre District is available for 5* hotels). I need to be somewhat near Midtown East and wanted to get a nice hotel for my wife and I on our kid-free getaway :)Any ideas what a truly viable bid would be for a 5*? Thanks!Bill Link to comment
hohogap
TS appears to be the only PL area that has 5* hotels listed for your dates on the opaque side. 4* hotels are pricey and still a great deal. Unless you are really set on a 5* property, I'd set my sights on a more reasonably-rated hotel (and less than 5*). GOOD LUCK! Link to comment
Bill - LAX
Makes perfect sense. What in your experience is a good deal for a 4* in the theatre district/Midtown area? Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Unfortunately, the 5* level has just been added as an option recently; it's unknown which property/properties may be participating. What would be your desired budget per night, and which zones would be acceptable?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
thereuare
Depending upon the zone(s) you ultimately choose (at the 4* level MTE, MTW, TS, CPS and ESB are all generally considered to be centrally located for the average user) i'm guessing you're looking at ~$225 for a 4* hotel... is this inline with your expected budget? Please let us know regarding cost and zones you're willing to accept and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Bill - LAX
Thanks in advance for the guidance here! Yes, we're fine with a 4* in either Central Park South, Midtown East, Midtown West or Theatre District.$225 would be right in line with our expectations: we just want the best deal possible for a nice property.I'll definitely use the link you reference.Bill Link to comment
hohogap
Good Luck and keep the Board posted of any wins, and be sure to bide through the BB Priceline or HOTWIRE links on the Board. Link to comment
Bill - LAX
Ended up changing my check in day one date (from 11/15 to 11/16) and got the W for 236. Not a screaming deal, but definitely better than what I could have obtained elsewhere. The rebidding feature really hit the spot. Thanks guys! Link to comment
thereuare
Congratulations on your success!Glad to see you're pleased with the results and looking forward to your stay. You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
