kimberwyn Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 I would recommend Hollywood, Pasadena or Downtown. Maybe Beverly Hills. Depends on whether you want shopping, nightlife or family type of entertainment? There are conventions this week though so it's really hard to find hotels (especially around downtown).
Fuzzy5 Posted October 14, 2011 Author Report Posted October 14, 2011 Im looking for shopping and a bit of entertainment as well. Its just me and my wife travelling.
Fuzzy5 Posted October 23, 2011 Author Report Posted October 23, 2011 11/21 - 11/24 (3nights) 4 or 5 starLooking for a 4 or 5 star hotel . Acceptable locations are as follows: beverly hills, Hollywood, Westwood. Please advise what should be a reasonable price for this time of the year in the above mentioned locations. Willing to pay any where from 150$ upto 250$.
thereuare Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 We don't see Westwood bid that frequently... are you sure this zone works well for your needs, or did you mean West Hollywood? Please confirm and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Fuzzy5 Posted October 24, 2011 Author Report Posted October 24, 2011 I think lets just leave westwood out. So locations are beverly hills and hollywood. Thanks
thereuare Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 Assuming your goal is the least expensive 4* or better (as opposed to first trying up to your limit for a 5* property)...At the 4* level you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. While i think the following will likely be too low, i would at least star here given that you have some time before your stay.Select 4* Beverly Hills-West Hollywood...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Hollywood...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Beverly Hills-West Hollywood and Hollywood...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. CharlieGotChoo Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 Im travelling to los angeles for the first time. Please advise a good location to stay and a 4 or 5 star hotel accordingly. Can pay upto $180 per nightThnxBe sure to check parking situations at hotels. A lot of hotels charge a mandatory $20 fee for each night of parking which isnt mentioned when booking through priceline. And overnight street parking in LA area is not easy to come by.Also shopping... do you want fancy shopping or regular shopping? Rodeo Drive (fancy), the grove (semi fancy), and Citadel (lol shopping). LA is pretty BIG. want to be close to beach? Close to night life? Close to expensive restaurants?
Fuzzy5 Posted October 27, 2011 Author Report Posted October 27, 2011 Hey , i wont be needing any parking space. Well mainly i am looking for semi fancy and just regular shopping. Just want a location which is central. Would visit Rodeo drive, Universal studios, walk of fame etc. How is the Sofitel hotel? Its also directly opposite the Beverly centre. Or if you could recomend some other nice 4 or 5 star hotels , range 200-250 per night .

Fuzzy5 Posted October 27, 2011 Author Report Posted October 27, 2011 No i have still not tried it. Im thinking if i can get a hotel directly with in my target price at a convinient location then i will probably take it as i will be sure of the area around it.Would appreciate your opinion about the sofitel hotel. Basically im looking for shopping (malls etc, eating places...) and all of these are nearby this hotel. Any other hotel recomendations would be appreciated. Thanks
Romelle Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 There may be a review of the Sofitel in the Hotel Review area (very last area on this site, and then use the first post in it to link you to "C" for California). Also, there most likely are lots of reviews in www.tripadvisor.com. I don't know that particular Sofitel, but the other ones I've seen in the chain are very nice. The Los Angeles one is ranked 12th out of 292 hotels on TripAdvisor.RomellePS - if you can't link successfully to the Hotel Reviews here, give it a few days. With the updated web site, some things still need a little tweaking. Lots of good information there though when it is fixed.
