I'm planning on traveling to NYC on 12-2 to 12-4. I'd like to stay in the Chelsea area in a 3.5-4* hotel for $150-180. Am I dreaming or is it realistic? I've never bid before and don't know where to start.

Welcome to BeterBidding!

Excluding specific events, seasonally this is one of the busiest weekends of the year in NYC and based upon current rates $180 for a 3.5* or better doesn't seem realistic for these dates... especially if you're only looking to stay in this one particular zone. While rates are high across the board and $180 may be difficult in most other zones as well, by only bidding one zone you aren't giving too many hotels the opportunity to accept your bid, which makes it more difficult to score a great deal.

What is the best rate you're able to find for these dates thru conventional booking channels? Have you been to NYC before?
