AaronJB Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)What would be your desired budget per night for this stay?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
carts5 Posted October 12, 2011 Author Report Posted October 12, 2011 I know of successful bids recently at $49 to $52 for this area, so I was hoping to not go over $62.Did I post correctly? I have read a lot on the site about how to post, but the information can be confusing. Also, another question - It is recommended that people make back-up reservations just in case Priceline "Name Your Own Price" doesn't pan out. I'm wondering if it is okay for me to make back-up reservations with the regular Priceline site where prices of rooms are listed, or if making that reservation with regular Priceline could effect my chances of getting a good deal with "Name Your Own Price".Thanks!
AaronJB Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 It is recommended to look for back-ups during busier periods where it may be more difficult and/or more time-consuming to try and get a deal from PRICELINE.Rates do vary from day-to-day, so successful rates for other dates definitely may not be an indicator. These dates appear a touch higher than normal, but don't look unusually expensive (major convention, etc.) I'm guessing you are likely looking at as much $75-85 for a 4* for these dates, but I would continue up by $5's from your last bid at $62 - $67, $72, $77, $82, $85.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Or would you go ahead and bid higher now? Also, are you saying that it's okay to book back-up reservations with regular Priceline because that won't effect "Name Your Own Price" success???Thanks!
AaronJB Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 I really do not think a "back-up" is necessary for these dates. However, if you do want to do a back-up, I would strongly recommend reading the fine print in order to make sure that the back-up is fully refundable. Having a back-up regular rate reservation will not effect whether or not you are successful bidding, but again, do double check the refundable status of the regular rate reservation if you do want to do a back-up.You could try every couple of days up to $62 in the hopes that new inventory will come online at that price level or less, but there's no guarantee that that will happen. As of this point though, a 4* will require a higher bid. Please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches and please use the site's PRICELINE link if you do book a regular rate back-up, as well.
