erintucker1 Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 I need a cheap, decent hotel, since I'm running on a major budget right now. Any area is fine with me, I just need some techniques? I'm wanting to start out at $70.
AaronJB Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Unfortunately, the Fall/early Winter is one of the busiest/most expensive periods of the year in NYC. $70 is probably not going to be enough for Manhattan unfortunately, given the rates that I'm seeing for these dates. Would you be willing to stay outside the city in a nearby area and commute in?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

erintucker1 Posted October 13, 2011 Author Report Posted October 13, 2011 I'm pretty okay with staying somewhere outside of Manhatten. Jersey City is probably a pretty good possibility at the point. Just as long as it's still pretty close to the MSG area since I don't want to be on public transportation for almost an hour. Any help is greatly appreciated!
thereuare Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 ... and what is your minimum star rating for this stay????Are you comfortable being anywhere in the Jersey City zone? Ideally you want to be near the Waterfront section of this zone, but if you're bidding the lower star levels, which aren't bid that frequently, you could potentially receive a new hotel which may not provide as easy access as the 'known' hotels in this area. However, the bigger issue is that $70 is typically just not enough for this area. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. erintucker1 Posted October 14, 2011 Author Report Posted October 14, 2011 I ended up getting a 2.5* hotel for $68 in Jersey and it's only 15 minutes away from the MSG area :)

erintucker1 Posted October 14, 2011 Author Report Posted October 14, 2011 It's the Homestead Secaucus-Meadowland :)
thereuare Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 To clarify, this property is not in the Jersey City zone you were originally seeking and it will probably take you closer to 30+ minutes to get to MSG (assuming no traffic) so plan accordingly. Also, I believe this property is actually 2* rated by PRICELINE... can you confirm that this is the star level that you had bid and that 2* is what appears on your PRICELINE confirmation page? Thanks.
