vanpoodle Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 I am contemplating a visit to DC over Easter to see the museums and do touristy things. I checked the Smithsonian website, it sounds like they're operating as usual on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Does anyone know whether I can expect a fully functioning city when we're there? The only other time I seem to be able to schedule would be 1st weekend of July (but I worry about it being too busy with July 4th celebrations) or 1st weekend of August when it might be unbearably hot. Would love to hear what others think about timing on this. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 I would think that if everything (museums/etc) is open, it would be a pretty decent time to go, with comfortable weather and probably reasonable crowds. It's fairly far in advance, but rates for Easter 2012 look pretty decent (as DC goes) - at least at this point. Please let us know exact dates and desired zones (as well as desired star rating and budget) and we would be happy to offer suggestions.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Doubleplay Posted November 11, 2011 Report Posted November 11, 2011 The city is up and running and with Congress out of session then, you might find some decent hotel rates. Your problem in 2012 is that Easter might fall on the tail end of Cherry Blossom time and rates could be high.
