krschee Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 Starting another thread for this win, but basically I had to split up a 4 day trip because most hotels in the city are full for 10/26. Retail rates for this property are $599 and even with my MGH business rate it comes down to 300+ but with NO availability on 10/26.For the past 2 days, I had bid up to $170 on 3.5* and 4* hotels in this area (for 10/25 to 10/29) with no luck.I finally chose the 27th and 29th, and made one bid of $130 to get this hotel. I realize I may have been able to get it for lower, but with my previous bids that were higher, I was tired of bidding. It was definitely less satisfying than making multiple bids to win. Priceline offered to extend the reservation for the same rate but did not find any rooms.Great location, really good reviews, hoping for a good ending to my visit to Boston in this hotel.Boston has been the toughest city to bid in so far!
thereuare Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 Congratulations on your success!Looks like you did well for this second leg of your trip... a very nice deal for this well located property. As i just mentioned in another thread, for a city of its size, Boston does not have a lot of hotel rooms and even a moderate event in the area (function at one of the many schools in the area, sporting event, conference, etc) can really cause a spike in rates.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Have a great trip.
