Looking for bidding strategy for 4*/Resort in Wailea for 2 nights from 11/30 - 12/02. The current rate at Marriott Wailea is $199.00. Is this hotel considered a 4* or a Resort?

Would like to keep the price around $150 or if bids fail would add Kaanapali as another option. Thank you for your assistance.

The very first post in this Priceline -Hawaii area is a list of hotels people have reported here as successful bids. All the Marriotts are showing as Resorts.

Another way to find out would be to enter "marriott wailea" in the Quick Search box up above on this page.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

While it may ultimately take a bit more, i would start with the following:

At the Resort level in Wailea you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

Select Resort Wailea...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select Resort Wailea and re-bid zone2...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $115

Any questions feel free to ask. If the above is rejected just post back and we'll revise to try again in 24 hours.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Tried bidding again after 24 hours as you suggested but bids rejected again up to $135.00

Right now the Wailea Marriott has a limited time offer of $199, book 10/03 - 10/14, travel 10/03 - 12/21. Could this have any influence on the bidding price?

Regular rate is $249.

Thanks again.

Do you mean in terms of your bids not being accepted?? Not likley, imo.

I'd try once more up to your $150 limit:

Select Resort Wailea...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select Resort Wailea and re-bid zone2...

Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $150

Good luck.

It is a resort.

Stayed there a few times. Lowest I got it for was $99 night but during "off season". Last time I went in 6/11, we got it at $180/night.

Also keep in mind that they also charge a $25/day Resort fee when you check in. This includes your parking, Internet and other "resort" amentities. Which IMO is balognese.

I've been bidding off and on the past month for Resort for 2 nights 11/30/11 - 12/02/11 in Wailea and recently adding Kaanapali with no success. Tonight I received an email from Priceline that they would add $5.00 to my bid.

Selected Resort Kaanapali - Bid $120, rejected

added Kahului - Bid $130, rejected

added Kihei - Bid $140, rejected

Closed browser

Selected Resort Wailea - Bid $120, rejected

added Kahului - Bid $130, rejected

added Kihei - Bid $140, rejected

Closed browser

Selected Resort Kaanapali & Wailea

Bid $145 - Priceline countered $176

ignored and added Kahului - Bid $150

Accepted! Westin Maui Resort and Spa - lowest rate on their website is $299

I'm happy - thanks for your advice.
