Spartacus2000 Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 Hello,I am trying to find a hotel room in Chicago for myself and 3 of my friends for this weekend. So far I have been selecting 2 rooms with 2 individuals each but I just tried using 1 room with 4 adults in the search criteria and it brought back certain results. My question is: how does the hotel accomodate 4 adults, or should I just stick to looking for 2 rooms for 2 adults. Is the website sophisticated enough to take this into account and does the hotel take this into account when giving us a room?Any idea how this works? Thanks.
AaronJB Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Searching for 4 adults on HOTWIRE should ensure bedding for the party (which could be 2 beds or 1 + sofabed or 1 + rollaway) Searching for 4 is generally more expensive (although still discounted, as if you booked directly with hotels in the city, you'd also see extra person fees beyond the regular rate if you booked 4 adults.)Please let us know your date/s of travel and desired budget and we would be happy to offer suggestions.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Spartacus2000 Posted October 5, 2011 Author Report Posted October 5, 2011 Thanks for your reply.I'm looking for accommodation for 10/8 to 10/10.So when I search for a room for 2 adults (I'm only considering the Millennium Park / Loop / N. Mich Ave areas) the lowest rate I get is a 4* hotel at $188 which works out to $94 per person per night. If I search for a room for 4 adults the lowest rate I get is 3.5* hotel at $264 which works out to $66 per person per night. This seems cheaper - are you saying that the final bill will include charges in addition to the $264?Thanks.

Spartacus2000 Posted October 5, 2011 Author Report Posted October 5, 2011 Hello,Need help identifying the following hotel:4* hotelArea: Chicago Loop - Millenium Park - Grant ParkAmenities:- Fitness Center- Pool(s)- Restaurant(s)- Business Center- High Speed Internet Access- Spa ServicesThanks.
thereuare Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 If you search for 4 people then there should be no additional charge for more than double occupancy (or a rollaway cot, etc)... if you search for only double occupancy and show up with four, then the hotel has the right to charge an additional fee for a room with two beds, cot, etc.The property above matches the Palmer House Hilton so that would be my best guess for this one, but when asking for hotel IDs, please include the number of rooms/adults/children included in the search so that we can replicate it on our end which enables us to check for confirming/negating factors for the hotel guessed. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Spartacus2000 Posted October 5, 2011 Author Report Posted October 5, 2011 Hello,It was indeed the Palmer House Hilton @ $165 per night, I'm pretty happy with the result.I ended up going with 2 seperate rooms and did that in two seperate transactions. Used the HOTWIRE link you provided to make both purchases. This discussion board has been very helpful, will definitely use it again in the future.Thanks.
AaronJB Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Hope you are pleased with the result and are looking forward to your stay at this historic property. It's a chain and not the world's greatest, but if you're looking for a place very close by for something casual, I like Flat Top Grill at 30 S Wabash - it's a stir fry place where you make your own Stir Fry - you choose the ingredients, they prepare it and if you choose it you can keep going back and making different combinations. They also offer breakfast on the weekends. (http://www.flattopgrill.com/menu.html) There's also plenty of other restaurants nearby - let me know if you have any questions.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
