Good evening,

I'm looking for a hotel in New York for the data 10/9-10/16/11.

I'm pretty much open to anywhere in Manhattan, but I'm trying to keep budget per night to $150 or less.

As I've never used Priceline before, I'm not sure on proper strategies for bidding.

As for rating, I'd prefer 3* or 3.5* but it seems 2.5* might be more realistic with my budget.

Thanks for your tips.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

I'm guessing your budget is likely going to be be tough for these dates... even at the 2.5* level (and we often don't recommend PRICELINE in NYC at 2.5* and under as the quality at the budget properties can vary so much... you could get a diamond in the rough which works well for your plans... or you could get something which you regret returning to at the end of each day)

With the above noted, if you still want to move forward, which star rating do you do want to try for first? Are you ok with a very small room (like that of the Hudson Hotel) or if you were land a hotel which was a 15 minute walk to the subway? Also, UES and UWS can go pretty far north, and these are typically that convenient for the average user, are these acceptable?

Let us know the info above and we'll take it from there.

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread... if you ultimately stay in NJ we'll move the entire thread to that section of the board.

What do you want to try first?

If NYC:

What about UES and UWS which each go fairly far north?

To avoid any confusion, please go to PRICELINE and list the zones, by PRICELINE name, that you're willing to accept, we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow.

If Hoboken:

I think $150 will probably fall a little short for a 4* hotel for these dates. But you can certainly try... let us know if you want to try Hoboken or NYC first, and if trying up to the $150 mark before trying for the other location, and we'll suggest a strategy to follow.
