Temeyb Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 Hi. I am trying to bid for a 5* hotel on the strip for Oct. 22 and 23rd. However, I want to know what 5* hotels belong in what strip? Where can I find this information? Thanks.
AaronJB Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)The list of properties that have been reported to the board can be found at this link: Priceline Hotel List. These are the hotels that have been reported to the board - new hotels or changes in star rating can be reported to the board at any time.Which zones would you be interested in bidding in, and what would be your desired budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Temeyb Posted October 4, 2011 Author Report Posted October 4, 2011 I was interested in bidding on a 5* hotel in the North and South strip and my desired budget per night is $130 or somewhere close to that. I am not sure how reasonable that is.
Romelle Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 Temeyb,If you select your dates and Priceline - Nevada in the Calendar of Wins (center of this page) it is possible somebody else has already bid and won (and reported here) for Las Vegas. That could give you an idea as to the reasonableness of your budget. When you see the count of wins, click on it and you will see the bid results. Furthermore, if you click on a specific bid you will be taken to the whole thread for that one.RomellePS- Usually worth taking a look at Hotwire - Nevada while you are there. PPS - And always a good thing to check the hotel web sites. They've been known to have specials not available via bidding. There are links to several in the Las Vegas Checker at the top of this page, and links to more under the Support/Travel tab.
Temeyb Posted October 4, 2011 Author Report Posted October 4, 2011 ok. I have a couple more questions. Is the list in the link above accurate for the current moment to rebid on areas that don't have 5* so I don't have to wait 24 hours to rebid? Also, I didn't see Bellagio on the list. Is that not a hotel that works with Priceline? Thanks.
Temeyb Posted October 4, 2011 Author Report Posted October 4, 2011 Nevermind the questions above. I just viewed the message at the top of the priceline list. This answers my questions above. thanks.
thereuare Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 For anyone else following along, the hotel lists should NOT be used to determine your re-bid zones, the way to determine your re-bid zones is detailed here: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedTemeyb, if you're ready to bid let us know which zone(s) are acceptable and your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! (please click this PRICELINE link before replying)Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Temeyb Posted October 13, 2011 Author Report Posted October 13, 2011 I have been bidding since October 4 on a 5* hotel for 10/21 - 10/23 and I am having horrible luck. I have bid all the way up to $190 and I keep getting rejected. Based on reviewing other bid wins on the site, I feel like that is a pretty reasonable offer. Yesterday, I had rebid 11 times adding zones I know that don't have 5 stars and still no luck. Any advice on what I should do differently. Is it too close to the check-in date to get the typical priceline discount through name your own price? :)

Romelle Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 Might be worth your time to take a look at HOTWIRE (upper left corner here on betterbidding). For your dates, at the moment the 5*s are $161 North Strip and $186 South Strip. Also, if that sounds interesting and you posted back the amenities here, somebody could make an educated guess as to just what hotel you'd likely receive. Not 100% sure, but probably better odds than the Vegas machines.....You can also look at the list of HOTWIRE hotels reported here in the first post of Hotwire - Nevada. Different hotels can appear via Hotwire than via PRICELINE.Another approach, if you are willing to move, would be to bid the two nights separately. The Sunday night rates are a lot lower than the Saturday night rates. If you go this route, you could even bid for a 4* hotel for Saturday night, and a 5* for Sunday night.Have you checked the hotel web sites for their rack rates. I have seen specials on the hotel websites that were less $$ than what could be achieved via bidding. Unusual, but it has happened.Romelle
