Hi all,

after a great bid and your support for New Years Eve hotel in Jersey City i need a hotel for the second half of my trip to NYC.

So next should be a very central hotel with very short ways to all the sight seeing spots in manhatten in the timeframe of 1/1-1/7.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

Regards,

Daniel

This is *generally* one of the cheaper times of year in the city. The night of 1/1 and possibly 1/2 may be more expensive due to people from New Year's Eve staying over another night or two, but this stay as a whole should be more reasonable (as New York goes.)

What would be your desired budget per night, and which zones would be acceptable?

Thank yo ufor using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Assuming you're looking for a 4* hotel for this leg of your trip, and MTE, MTW, TS, CPS and ESB are all acceptable (at the 4* level these are the zones most frequently bid and work well for the average user) i would bid as follows:

When bidding 4* in NYC you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, and ESB...

Bid $100, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $110, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $115, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 4* CPS...

Bid $100, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $110, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $115, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, ESB and CPS...

Bid $125, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $130, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $135, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $140, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $143, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $145

If the above is rejected HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the MTE zone with: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa for $148/nite. Best guess for this property is the W New York and you can go with this HOTWIRE offer if the PRICELINE bidding above is turned down.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the hint.

i tried:

Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, and ESB...

Bid $100, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $110, if rejected add-rebid zone...

Bid $115, if rejected add-rebid zone..

and then checked the starwood homepage directly:

LINK which offers me the W Hotel for 6 nights for 799 Dollar (133 Dollar per night).

Is the W the "best available" hotel in this area at this price and should i book it directly via their homepage oder are there better choices, so that i should proceed with priceline?

thanks!

After all my bids i finally maid the final offer:

Congratulations. We just booked your stay at the W New York Hotel for just $135 a night

Thank you so much for your outstanding help and i will do everything to promote your site :-)

And of course - i used the one and only PRICELINE link!!!

Thank you - now my trip is completed!

12/29 - 1/1 ... Newark (Jersey City) Westin, $130

1/1 - 1/7 ... Ney York (Midtown East) W Hotel, $135

Any further hint or advise for NY in this timeframe (musicals, opera, restaurants ...) is highly appreciated!

Thanks again!

You're near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.

I can't help on the opera front, but if you give me an idea if food that you like and price points i'll try to offer some suggestions.

Glad to see you did quite well on the hotels for this trip.
