TenaciousP Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 I've been getting alerts Of winning bids in CPS for $160, but I have bid as high as $190 with no luck. I re-bid using TMS,MTE, MTW, MSG, & UES. Any advice?
thereuare Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates are date specific, and the notifications that you're receiving are not necessarily for the same dates as your own (more than likely they're not for the same dates). Rates for your actual dates are somewhat high and at the moment i'm doubtful that $190 will be enough for a 4* hotel. However, before discussing your options, i'm not really sure of what you're after for this stay...3 of the 5 zones you're using as "re-bid" zones are not true re-bid zones at all since they do contain 4* hotels and therefore you could win a hotel in one of these zones you're adding. As well, you do have FIVE actual 'true' re-bid zones when bidding 4* in NYC (although you're not using 3 out of 5 of them). If you're new to re-bidding see this thread, Priceline Re-Bidding Explained, and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your FIVE re-bid zones with the board. Also, in your reply please indicate which zone(s), if any, besides CPS you are willing to accept and your if $190 is your top budget per nite for this trip. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. TenaciousP Posted October 3, 2011 Author Report Posted October 3, 2011 Thanks for your response. I'm willing to stay in CPS, MTE, MTW, and TMS. Preferably, CPS though. The MSG, UES and QBB do not have any 4* hotels, so I've been using them to get another stab at a bid. Also, I'm willing to go as high as $250. Long Island City and Coney Island also have no 4* hotels, but I'm nervous about choosing something that far away!
thereuare Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 The 4* level in CPS is one of the most expensive zones in this area, it is very rarely seen as a 4* win. If you're only comfortable using THREE of your re-bid zones, and CPS, MTE, MTW, and TMS are all acceptable, i would bid as follows:Select 4* CPS and MTE...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTW and TS...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* CPS and MTW...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE and TS...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* CPS and TS...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTW and MTE...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* CPS and MTE and MTW...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $210, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* CPS and MTE and TS...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $210, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* TS and MTW and CPS...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $230, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* TS and MTW and MTE...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $230, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* CPS, MTE, MTW, and TMS...Bid $235, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $240, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $245, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $250Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. However, DO NOT stay in Coney Island if you're worried about distance. That is a loooooong train ride.
TenaciousP Posted October 4, 2011 Author Report Posted October 4, 2011 Thanks for the help. I got the 4* Marriott Marquis in Times Square for $210.
thereuare Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Congratulations on your success!A very nice deal for these busy (and expensive) dates in Manhattan for a hotel which is not seen very often as a PRICELINE win.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.PS- the restaurant at the top of this hotel rotates a full 360 degrees every hour. While i wouldn't necessarily go there to eat (there is better food in NYC :) ) it may be worth going up one evening/nite for a drink and take in the view. They do have a cover charge after (i think 6pm or 8pm) but this is waived for hotel guests (although you should confirm this beforehand to confirm this policy is still in place).
