Priceline Hotel: 3* hotel in Culver City Zone

Hello,

During the whole of last week, I bidded for ★★★ hotel in Culver City Zone. (4 nights from Oct 25 thru Oct 29)

Previously, there were three hotels on Priceline bidding list; Courtyard Westside, Four Points and Doubletree.

Because Courtyard and Four Points were bookable for $129 and Doubletree for $89 using the normal PL booking system,

and also I found some rare reviews that most of bid tries for Culver City ended up with Doubletree,

I started from $50 expecting I would be given Doubletree too.

However, I've kept seeing the message saying "We're sorry, but we can't accept your offer..." until I got to $80.

I thought it was weird since Doubletree is bookable at $89.

So I came back to this forum and found that there was change in Priceline hotel list for Los Angeles (Culver City).

3* Courtyard Westside

3* Four Points (previously 2.5*)

3* Radisson Westside (now Doubletree)

Among these three, Radisson (Doubletree) has been removed.

Did I keep failing because the cheapest one now doesn;t accept a bidding offer anymore?

Am I right?

If I get between Courtyard by Marriot (it would be awesome! ^^) and Four Points,

I have plenty intention to offer up to $99.

My departure date is coming close,

and it's first time visit L.A.,

and also Culver City bidding reviews are very hard to find,

(plus, Hotwire provides no three-star hotels in Culver City Zone.)

I need your advice.

Thank you!

The Radisson changed hands and is now a Doubletree... and it has not yet been reported to the board as a PRICELINE win. There is no way to know of this location is no longer participating in PRICELINE's "Name Your Own Price" service OR if this hotel is not accepting your bid for a different reason.

Does the Doubletree work for your needs this trip? If so, why continue to bid up to $99 if this property is available for $89/nite? Given your bids up to $80 have been rejected, i would take the $89/nite retail rate if this property works well for your needs. If the rate is cancellable you could also continue to bid on PRICELINE in hopes of lower bidding rates available in the weeks ahead.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. (or our PRICELINE link should you choose to book the 'retail' rate thru PL)

Let us know what you ultimately decide or if we can be of further help along the way.

Since you said, "why continue to bid up to $99 if this property is available for $89/nite?"

I think you missed my comment about Doubletree.

Today when I came back here to check again your Priceline Hotel list,

I found that Doubletree (I know its former name was Radisson) was lined through.

Doesn't this mean that Doubletree no more accepts any bidding request?

That's why I said I still intend to increase my bid call up to $99

assuming that I would end up with Courtyard by Marriot or Four Points,

both of whom charge me around $129 per night if I use ordinary booking system.

My question No.1)

Is it correct that you've line through Doubletree from the PL Hotel List for Culvercity zone?

My question No.2)

If so, do you think if it is reasonable that I try bidding up to $99?

Anyway, it's good to be back to this forum

that helped me a lot lasy year when I planned for vacation in Hawaii.

Then this forum worked perfectly.

Thank you.

No, it means:

The Doubletree may still well be participating in 'Name Your Own Price' but for whatever reason has not yet been reported to the board (or is not offering opaque inventory for your dates)

Yes, there is a line thru the Radisson because that property no longer exists as a Radisson, but the Double has no line thru it because that would be a possible 'replacement' for this property. There is no way to know if the Doubletree is participating with PRICELINE's bidding service or not.

If so, do you think if it is reasonable that I try bidding up to $99?
Assuming the Doubletree is acceptable, i'm still not following why you would continue to bid higher then the price of a direct purchase of the Doubletree. Even if they are not participating in PRICELINE's bidding service, why not purchase the doubletree on its own if that is acceptable and offers a better rate than other 3* properties in the zone?
