Searching34 Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 I have been trying for the past 3 days to get a 4 star MTE or MTW hotel. I have gone all the way up to $200 and no go. This is a surprise trip for my mother, it will be her 1st trip to NY. Just want a nice hotel but don't want to pay arm and a leg for it :)Any suggestions? Hints?

Searching34 Posted September 30, 2011 Author Report Posted September 30, 2011 My last bid yesterday was done using the PRICELINE link, after it got rejected, I signed up :)Any help you can provide would be great!!
thereuare Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 At the moment your $200 isn't enough for a 4* hotel in these zones, and likely not any other centrally located midtown zones either. Is there a reason you're only bidding MTE and MTW and not including TS, CPS and/or ESB in your bidding, as these other zones also typically work well for the average visitor. While at the moment i don't think your bid will be enough for a 4* hotel in any of these zones, it's worth a shot, and tat is what i would try first assuming these other zones are acceptable to you. If that is unsuccessful, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? If you're flying to/from the area, which airport do you leave from and at what time in Tuesday? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Searching34 Posted October 1, 2011 Author Report Posted October 1, 2011 I tried again using the PRICELINE link provided. I bid $188 and it got accepted at the W New York :) I was hoping for the Grand Hyatt. Read the reviews on the W and they seem fine but i'm a bit worried about size of the rooms.... I'm a bit sad but i'm sure I will get over it, just hoping to have a good experience as it will be my mom's first time there.....
AaronJB Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 Sorry to hear that you're disappointed with the result. :)Hopefully the property will exceed expectations. Unfortunately, smaller rooms in NYC are pretty common, even at the 3.5/4* level.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
