breadman28 Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 I am trying to go on June 29-July 2 for a four star hotel in Orange county in either Newport Beach or dana Point.Posted $75 -- Got RejectedPosted $85 -- Got RejectedI suppose I will try $95 in three days... How does that sound?
thereuare Posted June 11, 2005 Report Posted June 11, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! There are no 4* hotels offered in Dana Point, so that is not an option. It seems to be that you're not familiar with PRICELINE RE-BIDDING, so i'd encourage you to read the previous link and ask any questions that you may have.Let us know your maximum bid and we'll provide a step-by-step strategy for you to follow. breadman28 Posted June 13, 2005 Author Report Posted June 13, 2005 I thought i was familiar with re-bidding, but anyway...My maximum bid is $107 because that's what's being offered at Hotwire. I have five days to do this, because i leave for a conference with no internet access, so i guess that's two more tries before hotwire
thereuare Posted June 13, 2005 Report Posted June 13, 2005 Let's back up a minute....what zone(s) and star rating is that you are looking for? From what you have already typed it appears to me:4* Dana Point4* NewportIs that what you think you're bidding on? breadman28 Posted June 15, 2005 Author Report Posted June 15, 2005 Zone: Newport Beach or Dana PointStar: 4*I bid all the way to 100 and kept getting rejected.I'm thinking of moving down to 3* in Dana Point or Newport Beach. What might i get if i do that?
thereuare Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 There are no 4* hotels currently offered in Dana Point, but you keep thinking that you are bidding for a 4* in this zone, which is why i don't think that you understand re-bidding?Make a list of all of the zones in Orange County, and as per Re-Bidding Explained, post the highest star rated hotel in each zone:The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time.If you don't understand post where you are having trouble and we'll clarify. breadman28 Posted June 15, 2005 Author Report Posted June 15, 2005 I don't know why you keep telling me i don't know re-biddingHere's what i did:6:45 am Bid 4* on Newport Beach at $85 Result: REJECTED6:50am Added Dana Point and bid $90 Result: Rejected6:55am Added Anaheim Hills and bid $95 Result: RejectedI kept adding those cities because I KNOW there are no 4* hotels and I wanted to keep bidding on Newport 4* hotels. When I learned there are no 4* hotels in Dana Point, i just used it to help me get 4* at Newport.
thereuare Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Because that is not what you said above, and you only seem to be using one of your re-bid zones... instead of all eight of them.So what is your maximum bid for a 4*?If you lowever to a 3* then Dana Point is no longer a re-bid zone. breadman28 Posted June 15, 2005 Author Report Posted June 15, 2005 What do you mean I am only using "one of my re-bid zones"?I had mentioned earlier that my maximum bid for a 4* is $107Do you know what the 3* hotel at Dana Point would be, cause I'd be fine with a 3* at this point... i just want a nice hotel in one of those two areas.
thereuare Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 There are many re-bid zones to use in this area when bidding 4* (you've only used Dana Point up until your previous post... now you're using two of your re-bid zones, Dana Point and Ahaheim Hills... but there are plenty more)See the PRICELINE HOTEL LIST for what has already been reported in each zone. breadman28 Posted June 15, 2005 Author Report Posted June 15, 2005 great, this is helpful--unfortunately there is one hotel in dana point that's 3* that i don't think it'd be worth the price. I'll have to stick to Newport.
thereuare Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 So with 8 re-bids in this zone (if i recall correctly from looking earlier) you can easily bid from $95 up to your limit at $107 without having to wait 72 hours inbetween bids.Have you identified the 4* on Hotwire to know that it:1) is rated 4* on Priceline2) is indeed in the zones you're currently bidding (as their boundaries are often drawn slightly different) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
