Priceline Hotel: London bidding advice needed please

hi there,

I was trying to bid for a hotel in London I used rebid zones then I closed the browser down and used the PRICELINE link that is always there to try and get another bid.

However it still said I have to wait 24 hrs. Is the rebid link a way round this? I thought it was? Do I have to close browser down and do something else like clear cookies or something.

The rebid link is not working i.e not giving me extra bids.

You still need to add re-bid zones (when available)... what city, zone(s), dates, star rating are you bidding? What bids have you already made?

5* Mayfair-soho only

went up to 165 bucks only got nothing :)

I am confused regarding the PRICELINE link. Does it only work for rebidding once you have used all your rebid zones or can u use it without having to bother with rebid zones?

What I was after London 5* Mayfair-Soho only

5th Oct - 1 night only

Failed at $165 couldnt rebid as 24 hr block kicked in even when using PRICELINE link and closing browser - not sure whether was b/c hadnt used all rebid zones yet not 100% on that does the link only allow rebids once used all rebid zones. Advice and strategy appreciated please.

You can only bid once every 24 hours for the same zone. So if you only bid on Mayfair and wanted to start fresh, you would close the browser and then start again with a new zone like Notting Hill. Mayfair could then be added in as a rebid to Notting Hill. Then if nothing there, close out of the brower, use the PRICELINE link again and do a bid for somewhere like Bloomsbury, and then you could piggy back bids for Mayfair and Notting Hill from that new bid.

The reason for closing the browser is to 'clear' and zones which have previously been selected, but PRICELINE's 24 hour rule still applies.

However, at the 5* level in London you have FIVE re-bid zones... are you familiar with and using your re-bid zones? (see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board)

I looked on Hotwire for your date. They have a 5* at $242. While Priceline can be a little less expensive than Hotwire, most likely it is not enough lower to make your $165 bid successful. There wasn't a 4* for Mayfair. Even in typically lower cost Kensington, a 4* was $175. Tough city, or at least a tough date.

On September 7, 2008, Smilingboy gave a complete bidding instruction on how to effectively re-bid on a zone when it has 5 rebids available. you'll find it on the 3rd page of the link that thereuare pointed you to. You might want to copy and paste it into Word and print it out so you have it handy. I have a copy of it next to me when I'm using rebids and it can squeeze out 30 rebids for a desired zone when there are 5 re-bid zones (I've used it for 4 star as well, with the more expensive and still desired zones as re-bids when I was bidding a less expensive zone), which is quite remarkable really. I've used it and it works! I was able to use it to increase my bid $1 at a time and know that I was getting the lowest possible rate avaialble, though the reopening a browser with practically every bid is a little cumbersome.
