button12 Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 I've been bidding almost daily for 7 days for the weekend of 11/4-11/6 and had no luck - I went all the way up to $260 and wasn't getting anything. I read through the forums here to get an idea of what people were succeeding with and discovered from someone else's post that the NY Marathon was on the 6th, which may be why it was 1. hard to get a hotel and 2. going to be expensive to get one. After realizing this, I decided to do a quick comparison on hotwire to see how much hotels were the weekend after, and discovered they were about $40-60 cheaper per night!I started at $160, and rebid in $10 increments, and finally got the Kitano for $200 for 2 nights. I've never used priceline but my friend suggested I try it out because you can get pretty good deals. And considering the non-bidding price @ priceline is $400 a night, I feel like I got a pretty good deal :) Yay for saving money and living luxuriously! I will continue to use Priceline for all my hotel needs :)
