Looking for a 4* Hotel in NYC for the weekend of 11/10th to 11/13th. Wouldnt think this is such a busy time in NY but the rates seem to indicate it is.

Can't find any posts for the same weekend to see what winning bids have gone for. What price do you think I am looking at for this stay (per night) and what strategy would you suggest for getting the best possible rate?

How big of a difference would you say there is between a 4* and a 3.5* in NY? I have heard the 3.5* hotels can be very small...

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Properties at all star levels can be on the small or very small side, with examples like the Hudson (about 130sq ft; 3.5*/CPS) and Roosevelt (3.5*/MTE, about 150-180 sq ft), but there are many others, as NYC rooms overall are on the small/smaller side overall - even at the 4* level in a lot of cases. In terms of 3.5 vs. 4, it's difficult to offer a comparison, as opinions are going to vary and quality within star ratings may vary.

What would be your desired budget per night for this stay?

Please start by reading your messages.

To give you a ballpark idea, i'm guessing at the moment a 4* will run about $240-$265/nite and a 3.5* approximately $225. If you let us know your maximum bid we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow, which starts low and gradually increases to your maximum.

Thanks for your response. I'm have gone up to $220 for four stars in in CPS, MW, TS, ME, MSG, ESB. Preferably, ME though and 4*. I'm willing to go as high as $250 for a 4* and $220 for a 3.5* (without CPS as I dont like the Hudson hotel)...

Ended up with Park Central New York (CPS) at $230 bid a night. Total came to $839 for the three nights. I looked at the hotel website and it looked pretty nice so I was excited except then I checked the room rates and it turned out $40 cheaper from buying directly from the hotels website. Damn Priceline! lol.

Sorry to hear that the result was a disappointment price-wise; if you can find the hotel more cheaply elsewhere, I'd definitely call/contact PRICELINE ASAP for their Best Price Guarantee.
