paca52 Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 What is known about the 2 star hotels offered in HK? Would the Skyline be on the list?
AaronJB Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 There are very few (a handful at most) hotels in general in this zone, and the only one that is known/has been reported to the board is the Ink48 at the 4* level. the Skyline is a 2* on the retail side of the service, so if it is participating on the bidding side (not known yet whether it is), it would be a possibility. Please let us know the details of your stay (dates/budget and star rating/zones of interest) if you would like assistance with your trip. Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
paca52 Posted September 25, 2011 Author Report Posted September 25, 2011 thank you AaronI will be bidding for a friend. She and her husband have been to NYC many times and are not looking for a luxury hotel. The are interested in the Clinton area, so I thought HK would be the closest. Travel dates are 10/20/11 - 10/31/11. They considered airbnb but want daily clean fresh linens and a large comfortable bed. She has booked a Red Roof for $200 a night. I was hoping to do better for them. Any suggestions?P
thereuare Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 At the 2* level in NYC i would sooner go with a 'known' retail purchase then bidding on PRICELINE as quality in NYC can vary greatly at the lower star levels. As well, note that with notoriously small rooms, a 'large bed' in NYC is far from guaranteed at any star level. If you're still interested in bidding i would sooner set a minimum star rating of 3*, and if looking for a 'deal', consider other areas outside of HK, as there just aren't too many hotels in this area (so lack of competition may results in less of a discount)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. paca52 Posted September 26, 2011 Author Report Posted September 26, 2011 Thanks I'll let you know if they want to proceed with a 3*. What is the likelihood of getting a 3* in Midtown West for under $200 "out the door?"
thereuare Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 What is the likelihood of getting a 3* in Midtown West for under $200 "out the door?"At the moment, based upon current rates, fairly low. A rate of $200 all-in is only about a $165 bid price, and that is typically not enough for this time of year, especially for a 10 nite stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
