Priceline Hotel: 4* Kansas City (Downtown-Crown Center) Hotel Phillips

I go to Kansas City a lot and made 3 reservations for the downtown Crown Center area. The first reservation was for 3 rooms on 11-26-11 for 1 night. The second reservation is for 4-13-12 through 4-16-12 and the 3rd reservation is for 6-4-12 through 6-7-12

Kansas City now has two areas with 4 star offerings. The DT-Crown Center area has the Westin, Hyatt, and the Hotel Phillips and the Country Club plaza area has the Raphael and the Intercontinental.

I started using the Country Club plaza area hoping to get the Raphael and bid up to $90 with no luck. The nice thing about KC is there are so many free re-bid zones when you are shooting for a 4 star.

I added the DT-Crown Center area and dropped my bid to 55 bucks. I went up in 1 dollar increments until I got the Hotel Phillips at $59. $59 seems to be the magic number for future bookings at the Hotel Phillips because that was the rate at which all 3 of my reservations were accepted at.

The Hotel Phillips has just undergone a fairly major renovation and while I wouldn't call it 4 star, it has gone from a property I almost dreaded winning on Priceline to a property that I do not mind staying at.

The location is fantastic and the hotel was free WiFi and a free business center. After getting soaked 54 cents a minute last week for using the business centers at both the Hyatt and the Westin downtown, that perk alone saves me some decent dough.
