ogayet Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Hi,Can you please help me win on priceline for a 3 nights stay in NYC from October 7th to October 10th?The zones I'm looking for are: Chelsea, Soho and MTE. Star rating: 3* and up (but I could go for a 2* in Chelsea)Budget: around 150$/nightThanks!!!
thereuare Posted September 23, 2011 Report Posted September 23, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! To note, Soho is part of the larger 'Downtown-Soho-Financial District' zone, and if you bid this zone you can end up anywhere in the zone, not just Soho. Also, note that some of the hotels in the MTE zone at 3.5* and under can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway. Assuming this is acceptable:At the 3* level you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* Chelsea...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* DT...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTE...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Chelsea and DT...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Chelsea and MTE...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Chelsea and DT and MTE...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. ogayet Posted September 26, 2011 Author Report Posted September 26, 2011 HiI've been trying this strategy for few days now, and increasing my bid a little bit (now my max bid is 165$).I was offered a 3* hotel in Chealsea or MTW for 201$/night for my dates. I'm confident I can get something for a little cheaper. Thanks for your help.
AaronJB Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 If you were given a counter-offer for $201, the actual required price is somewhere between your last bid and $201. If you want to continue to have a "ceiling" of $165, then I would keep bidding up to $165 for another 5-7 days. If you're still not getting accepted at this level, you could consider moving the ceiling higher. If you want to get it done and lock in a hotel, you could continue higher and hopefully be successful by $175-185.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 (now my max bid is 165$)Did you already bid $165 or have you only bid less than this but are now willing to go as high as $165? If the latter, what is the maximum bid that you have already made... if the former and $165 has already been rejected, did you want to increase your bid a bit from here given you've already been turned down at this rate? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ogayet Posted September 27, 2011 Author Report Posted September 27, 2011 Thank you all for your feedback. It's good to know that I don't have to bid the proposed new price but something in between my last bid and the proposal. As for my maximum bid, I am now willing to pay as much as 165$/night for my dates taking into account that is a really busy we in NYC. What I've done it's simply add 15$ to all the amounts in you bid strategy. I feel I'm really close specially when I see people booking hotels for the w-e before from 140$ to 160$. I'll let you know.
thereuare Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 If you're rejected at $165 OR if you're willing to pay a little more for a 4* hotel, i think you may be successful at the 4* level for $160-$180... so that is something to consider if $160 is turned down OR if you'd like to pay a little more for a 4* vs. a 3* and try for a 4* property first. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. ogayet Posted September 28, 2011 Author Report Posted September 28, 2011 I nailed it!I've just booked club quarters Wall Street 3.5* for 140$/night....I think it's a good deal considering the review I see on trip advisor. The only thing I'm not sure about it's the location... Since it's my first time in NYC, I'm not sure this is close enough to the "action". Any comments? Thanks again for you help.
thereuare Posted September 29, 2011 Report Posted September 29, 2011 Congratulations on your success!Downtown is a bit less convenient then midtown, and it does get a little quiet on the weekends, but it's certainly do-able for the right price.A short walk from this property is a very good pizza restaurant (not a slice shop, but a full restaurant) which i think offers very good value for the quality... stick with the rectangular pizza which is reasonably priced (starts ~$18 or so) but note that drinks can be a bit pricey:Adrienne's Pizza Bar54 Stone Street(212) 248-3838Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
