I haven't had much success in bidding for 1 night in Mag Mile/Millennium Park areas. I had been trying for 9-23-11 - 9-25-11 but without any success either. Any suggestions. One member said that they had a winning bid at 82 for 4*.

I may be bidding incorrectly but I really would like to stay in one of these two areas. I've been starting at 4* and going down to 3* for one of the areas. I then bid using the same technique with the other region.

We're on a budget so with fees I'd like to be under $100. Is this unrealistic.

Unsuccessful Bids

Mil Park -

4* - $70

3.5* - $65

3* - $55

N Michigan Ave

4* - $79

3.5* - $70

3* - $64

Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

At the moment i think you can likely get a 4* hotel with a $100 bid or less... do you want to try for this first OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this stay... OR what is your maximum bid at each star level?

Are you familiar with, and using, your re-bid zones? (see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained, and if you're new to the topic feel free (you're encouraged to do so) to confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding)

You are bidding for a Sat night so it might be a bit tricky. I got Hyatt Regency for $90 a couple of weeks ago so you might want to raise your price up a bit and start from $80 this time and go up to $95. I think you are very close now if that inventory is still there.

I think you're likely looking at $85-95 (possibly $100) for a 4* in the Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park area; there's a 4* for $113 in the Loop w/Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa that's likely the Palmer House.

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. I abandoned the downtown district. I was successful with Downer's Grove - Oak Brook.

Successful bid 3.5* - $45 for Doubletree Hotel Chicago in Oak Brook for 9/24/11 - 9/25/11

FYI, I clicked the PRICELINE link in your thread to book it.

Thanks!

Congrats on your success. :)

Very nice result for this Doubletree property. I definitely think the suburbs are worth exploring and provide a really good value (both price and free parking at many of the properties) vs downtown hotels on days when downtown hotels are much more expensive. For those who are willing to drive or take the Metra, I do often recommend the 'burbs.

Can you confirm which Doubletree location you did get? There are a couple of them in this zone.

Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.

Enjoy your stay.
