mikesteg Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Howdy,I'm looking at Taos, NM for 9/20 - 10/2. I've had good success in the past adding by nearby zones which do not have the desired star level (or above) for which I'm bidding. Unfortuantely, Toas has no such option. Toas itself is one zone, and the nearest other zone is Santa Fe (which is 1/2 way back to home.) I have been caught by a hotel showing up which was not listed here (not whining :) ), but since it was a few miles away no big deal. I can't see taking that risk when the nearest zone is ~90 minutes away. Also throwing me is that prices are widely distributed:4* is $3092.5* is $139Seems like a crap shoot where to bid if I miss on a 4* and add the 3.5* and 3* options (which are not listed in the straight bookings). I am not set on going, just looking for a little getaway between real vacations. I'd prioritize getting a very good price over actually winning the bid. PL also shows a 2* which seems workable for $63, so I can always break down and do that if necessary. :) Thanks for any advice (and please move this if it's int he wrong forum.)Thanks,Mike
AaronJB Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Unfortunately, there are some cases where there are no rebidding opportunities due to there only being one zone in an area/region. Taos is an example of this - there's no way to rebid in this case. What would be your desired star rating/budget per night for this stay?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
mikesteg Posted September 19, 2011 Author Report Posted September 19, 2011 Thanks. I'd probably go 100+fees for the 4* Maybe 80 overall for the 3 or 3.5*The 2* they have for $63 looks cute and local, so I would probably book that if I got down below 80 so I'd know what I was getting.Good to know I didn't miss any tricks. I guess I'll go old school and just march by bid up each day, and triple up by adding the 3* and 3.5* categories for $1 more or less. Thanks again,Mike
