wesleyarnold Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 I am going up to NYC to celebrate my birthday weekend on the 14th of October. I am hoping for the cheapest possible 4* hotel and I am generally okay with all aread of Manhattan. In the past I have stayed at the Sheraton Towers or the W Midtown as those are obviously ideal locations for any tourist. What do you think is the cheapest possible place to start for a bidding strategy. Also though I did say 4* above, I think I would rather have a 3.5 star somewhere in Midtown than paying the same money for a 4* in the Financial District. What are peoples experiences with the hotels in the 3.5 star level? Thanks in advance!
thereuare Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 At current prices i'm guessing a 4* excluding Downtown will likely run ~$245-$265... is this within your expect budget for this stay?Let us know exactly (by PRICELINE name) which zones you're willing to accept at the 4* level and your maximum bid, we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. wesleyarnold Posted September 20, 2011 Author Report Posted September 20, 2011 I need to change the dates to 10/14-10/16, so I am now only looking for two nights. For the Sunday of my stay 10/16-10/17 I decided to do what I thought was an ultralow bid for a 4* in downtown since I am going to be going to the 9/11 Memorial. I bid 150 for a total of 188.32 with tax and it immediately came back with the Millenium Hilton. I am willing to stay in:Central Park SouthChelseaEmpire State BuildingHells KitchenMSGMTEMTWTimes SquareI want to gradually increase to my max bid of 250 per night, I think that will make the max cost for the room about 310 per night? Thanks in advance for the help!
