ls1dreams Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 Hi all,I'm looking for some help with strategy for the 9/30 - 10/2 weekend.(sorry, topic is slightly wrong)For some reason, prices seem quite high to me.Ideally, I'm looking for something near the Chelsea/Empire State/MSG/Downtown areas, but am open to pretty much anywhere in Manhattan. (Prefer not UES/UWS though).I'm really struggling with bids, though.Yesterday, I started with a 3.5* strategy, and bid from $100 - $150 on most of the prime areas. (using rebid zones)A few questions:1. Any idea why prices seem so high this particular weekend? Is there an event going on that I'm unaware of?2. I'm not too picky about where in Manhattan I end up - but are any zones worse than others when it comes to being far from a subway stop?3. On that same note, if I drop to 3* , are some zones considered better than others?Would love advice on a 3* strategy at this point. Thanks!
ICGSAP Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 I was just able to book the Millenium Hilton (a 4* in the Financial District) by bidding on priceline, $145 for 9/29-10/1. Maybe work up to that price, and see if you get a similar outcome?
ls1dreams Posted September 18, 2011 Author Report Posted September 18, 2011 Yuck, so far can't get $160 for 4* in that zone, or 150 for 3.5*. My dates are fri/sat though, so a bit worse than your thurs/fri
