DunkHo Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 4* Waikiki Beach HNL Dec 30/11- Jan 9/12Dates are fixed due to flights. I know that it is the high season. Maybe need to adjust my prices higher. Budget about 130-150 dollars.Bids up to $130 were rejected in the Waikiki Beach area. (Resort/4*) using PricelineTried $85 for the Waikiki Marina area, which also was rejected. Prefer the beach area. (going with two children age 5 and 8)Looked at Hotwire aslo and the only 4* was for 175 per night with the following ammenities:(over my budget)Near Beach Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby (likely Waikiki Parc)Any other suggestions? I did my searches through the link above. Thanks in advance. Very helpful and interesting site.
thereuare Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! To begin, note that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)I actually think the hotel you're seeing above is more likely the Hilton Waikiki Beach (previously the Hilton Prince Kuhio) than the Waikiki Parc.As you point out these can be difficult dates, as not only is it high season, but also includes New Years Eve (which can be difficult in just about any hotel in any city) as well as the tail end of Winter recess for many public schools (when families take vacation)You do have time, but how flexible is your budget? For the Beach Zone i would consider bidding as high as $165 as this can often be a common price during times which are busier then average.thankspricelineLet us know your thoughts based upon the above. DunkHo Posted September 20, 2011 Author Report Posted September 20, 2011 Thanks for the reply. I agree that I might hold off on the Priceline if two beds can't be guaranteed. I will follow hotwire for now and look at other possible deals. Looking at it carefully, I agree... that hotwire property likely is the Hilton Hotel (not the Village). Thanks again. I will let you know if I get any deals.
