betty151
Hello all,I love this forum and happy to be a new member!I have seen many successful priceline bids for the Wailea Marriott recently. I've tried unsuccessfully many times to get the same resort for January 23-26 in 2012. I have bid from $105-160. Is it that no rooms are available for that time? Am I trying too early? Any advice would be helpful.Cheers,-B Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates.More specifically to your stay... rates are date specific, so you may not be able to replicate another user's winning bid if rates for your dates are higher then for your own stay... the other possibility, as you point out, is that it may just be early. However, checking rates direct from the Marriott website, rates start at $500+ for these dates, so your bids represent less than a third of prevailing rates, which does not give a very high probability of success. As well, these rates likely indicate high occupancy at this property, so they may not discount rates very much (or offer inventory to the opaque suppliers at all). Things can always change between now and January, but at the moment i think your chances of winning this particular hotel, and at rates your currently bidding, are low. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.
