nbyahoo Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 I'm going to be staying in NYC and am looking for 4* with good subway access and central for Javits and sightseeing. Can anyone suggest a bidding strategy for this and an approximate cost?I thought I was good at this bidding thing, but figuring out NYC is challenging! :)Thanks in advance!
nbyahoo Posted September 14, 2011 Author Report Posted September 14, 2011 $250/night or less is really what I'd like to target. I'd rather not change hotels mid-trip.
thereuare Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 The Javitz Center is all the way on the West Side and is not really central to anything. The zone(s) which would likely put you well located for easy access to the Javitz Center, as well as well located for nightlife, would be MSG-Chelsea (no 4* bidding available), Chelsea, and ESB. After that TS and MTW would be secondary choices. However, for a full one week stay i don't think $250 is going to be enough for a 4* hotel, you can certainly give it a try, but i think you're likely looking at closer to $300.... a 3.5* could probably be had for your $250 budget.Based upon the above let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... please click this PRICELINE link before replying.Thanks. nbyahoo Posted September 15, 2011 Author Report Posted September 15, 2011 Thanks. 3.5* or 4* would do for $250/night, shooting for the 4* but settling for a 3.5*. It will be my wife and I, so I'd like a king size bed, which I was surprised to find isn't the standard everywhere.Chelsea and north seem like good spots to be. I need to be at Javits for 2 days out of the entire week, so Javits is definitely not the only driving factor -- I can definitely cab/subway my way there for the two days.
AaronJB Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 Thanks. 3.5* or 4* would do for $250/night, shooting for the 4* but settling for a 3.5*. It will be my wife and I, so I'd like a king size bed, which I was surprised to find isn't the standard everywhere. The issue with NYC is that many rooms are definitely on the small side - as a result, a king bed is often an upgrade. Bed type is not guaranteed with PRICELINE or HOTWIRE, but I would definitely not expect a king for a NYC room.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
nbyahoo Posted September 15, 2011 Author Report Posted September 15, 2011 Okay, I can live without a King if I have to, but it seems like 4* that's more common, and since I'm shooting for 4* it'll probably work out. Here's my preference on locations... CPS, MTW, TS, MSG, ESB, Chelsea. Can you recommend a strategy based on this information?
