Priceline Hotel: 5* Las Vegas (Strip North) Wynn

Looking for a bidding strategy for a 5* North or Strip Casino during the weekend of 10/14 to 10/16. This is for a bachelor party of 8 to 12 guys, many of whom have been to Vegas, so staying at a casino is important. I would prefer the North, but South is okay too.

Prices seems pretty expensive this weekend, so I'm looking for a solid bidding strategy. I plan to book three rooms for the two nights.

As for budget, since we have a lot of guys, I'm not too worried about price. My hopes would be to be keep it under $180.00 per night, if possible.

Also, I last bid using this forum back in 2009, and my understanding is that the Trump has been moved from Vegas North Strip to Vegas North Strip Condo. Is that correct? Just want to make sure we have a casino for many of the first time gamblers.

Thanks for all that you guys do!

PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request... and most of the 5* hotels in Vegas now charge extra for rooms with two beds ('standard' is a room with one bed... a room with two beds is usually considered an upgrade). Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

That's good information.

I think I'm willing to risk it. Even if we have to secure three rooms through Priceline, we can always secure another room at the advertised rate if we need to. I hope by securing a large block of hotels ahead of time via Priceline, I'll significantly reduce the cost per person for the trip. Another room at their standard rate will only marginally affect the overall cost per person.

That said, I'm ready to start bidding! I will be sure to let you know how it all turns out once I secure the win.

Thanks again.

Are your parameters still for a 5* hotel in the Strip North or Strip South zones, and a maximum bid of $180? If so, how many rooms are you bidding on?

Please confirm the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

I think the preference is to stay in the North Strip for the access to Wynn, Encore, Venetian and Palazzo - more preferred hotels, in my opinion. That said, let's stay with just North Strip for now.

I plan to bid on three rooms.

Preference to keep the bid under $180 per room per night

I am actually going this same weekend w/ my wife for her birthday and noticed for some reason this weekend is a little pricey compared to others. I thought the previous weekend (Presidents day) would be a little more expensive.

I'm going to start bidding on rooms tonight. I noticed that on Hotwire it was listing 5 star hotels at $163 per night. I'm not sure how that will translate into a price line bid but I'm hoping to stay in the $120-$140 range per night. Good luck with your bidding!!!

I do have one question. We always like to upgrade to nicer rooms when they are available. Is this an option that the Vegas hotels will offer with a Priceline bid or is that for the most part out of the question?

I changed my strategy up a little bit as we needed two rooms for three nights (Thurs-Sat).

Using your PRICELINE link, I was able to secure the Wynn Hotel for $210 a night. A little more than the $180 I was hoping to pay, but I did notice that prices went up. This will still be a good rate for a big bachelor party.

I started at $140 and went in $10 increments, adding re-bid zones until I hit $210. That was actually going to be my last bid before I re-evaluated and started over tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help.
