why-kookoo Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 Hello, I've been trying to bid for a resort in the Waikiki Beach Area (included 4* as I'd also be happy with the Hyatt) - going from $125 to $130 to $135 - but have had no luck. My flight is set for those dates. Any suggestions, other than to keep trying to bid higher? Is this a peak season time to be going? Many thanks! :)
thereuare Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!I suspect you're not too far off... HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Waikiki Beach zone at $152/nite with:Near Beach, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, LaundryThis matches previous reports for the Marriott Beach Resort so that would be my best guess for this one.Any interest in this property or increasing your bid a little more?Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. why-kookoo Posted September 11, 2011 Author Report Posted September 11, 2011 Thanks for responding. The Marriott would be fine, but I was hoping to get one at a lower price (yes I know, obviously) :)I know there are no guarantees, but would you suggest perhaps waiting a week or two and trying again, to see if more rooms open up? I noticed that on some other travel sites (Expedia, etc.) places like the Sheraton show no rooms available during that week.Oh, I would also be very okay with getting the Hilton Hawaiian Village in the Waikiki Marina area. Thanks again!
thereuare Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 A quick look at rates i found most 4*/Resort properties with hotel direct rates of $225+. I'd be perfectly fine with a $75+ savings per nite for a week long stay rather than hope for rates to drop another $10-$15/nite. However, it's ultimately up to you and whether you want to risk rates moving higher while you hope they come down.It appears that the Saturday nite of this stay may be the 'sticking' point... is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option; staying at one hotel for the first 5 nites and then possibily needing to change hotels for the last 2 nites? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too!
