Could you please tell me what the best geography (Chelsea, lower Manhattan?) to request for a hotel if I'm going to a game at NYU? Thanks!

Most of NYU is in the Village, but some aspects are located throughout various parts of the city... where exactly is the game you're attending?

What are the dates of your stay, desired star rating, and expected budget?

The Cole is in the Downtown-Soho-Financial District zone on PRICELINE. However, the Chelsea and Empire State zones would be not terribly far to the North. In any of the three cases though, you would have to be willing to stay within any part of the zone(s) you bid for.

What are the dates of your stay, desired star rating, and expected budget?

This location is near at least 3 major subway routes so you should be ok staying in almost any of the zones which are generally considered convenient... the bigger issue for this stay however will be your budget, as most hotels at the moment are substantially more then you're looking to spend.

I think one of your better chances at getting something close to your budget (although at the moment i still think it's likely you'll need to go a bit higher) is Downtown, but this may not be as convenient as other parts of the city. If budget is more important then zone for this stay i would suggest including as many acceptable zones as possible for this stay to improve your chances.

Let us know your thoughts in regards to how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

I'm now looking as close to Grand Central as possible as I'm going to go to a sports event at NYU and then have to zip w/little time to Grand Central for a train and I'd rather not do that with rolling luggage. I've now bid, using your PRICELINE link, for $150 3* 11/4-5, Empire State or ME with no luck so I'll add $10. Think I could get a hotel anywhere in this area and then stash my bag at the Grand Hyatt bell desk so I won't have to get from NYU to whatever hotel I get in my price range and then to Grand Central.

I'd love to keep my room to $200 and as I know they add $40 in taxes, hopefully $160 will work. Thanks for your advice.

I think your budget will likely be difficult at $200 all-in... it may even likely be though at a $200 bid amount.

If you want to try up to $160 (i'll even go a little higher but you can stop at whatever amount you'd like):

At the 3* level you only have ONE re-bid zone. Priceline Re-Bidding Explained

Select 3* MTE...

Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* ESB...

Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* MTE and ESB...

Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $170

Any questions feel free to ask. If the above fails, let us know your thoughts regarding bidding higher or including other zones (Downtown is probably your best shot at success within your budget)

Thanks for all the advice. I ended up getting a room at the Beekman Towers via BB's PRICELINE link at a non-name-your-own-price Priceline rate of $209 - $257 all in. More than I wanted to spend but I'm very familar with this property and I also booked a room on my return to NYC from Conn on 11/7. That means I can throw a few things in an overnight bag to do 2 nights in Conn and can leave my luggage at the hotel. Well worth the savings. Thanks again.

Glad you found something that will work for your needs and saves you lugging your luggage up to Connecticut.

You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.

Thanks for using the PRICELINE links on the board for your purchase.

Have a great trip.
