bimmerbryan Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Hey all, I'm new to this message board and I've learned a lot already just reading other posts!!Anyway, I would like to stay in a Resort in the Waikiki Beach Area area between Sept 20-24 (coming up soon!). I read tellerfeller and nothingman's posts about their successful bids (congrats guys and thanks for sharing!) so I tried bidding a few times and I'm up to $135 now and still no luck...even though tellerfeller and nothingman have had success with their identical bids. Do you think the hotels are getting full and hence not willing to accept my bid? Or do you think as we get closer to the days, they will drop their acceptance dollar limit? I'm willing to increase my limit some more but would rather not if others are getting the same deals. Anyone have any other strategies I can follow (I've done re-bid zones)?
AaronJB Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Rates really depend on dates, and if you have dates that are similar but not exactly the same (20-24 vs 20-23rd, a different rate can definitely be required for a win. You may be able to duplicate the win if you were to bid for 9/20-23 if there continues to be inventory, but then it becomes if you could extend your stay for another night (which may not be an option) or, if not, then having to move for the last night. All four nights together, however, unfortunately appear to require a higher bid. What would be your desired max budget per night?
bimmerbryan Posted September 10, 2011 Author Report Posted September 10, 2011 Thanks for the advice AaronJB! I revised the dates to the 20-23rd and even went up to $150 but no luck so far...I'm going to play the waiting game and hopefully by the beginning of next week, something will open up. I'm hoping the hotels still have inventory. If the Waikiki Beach area doesn't pan out, I will have to try another area...fingers crossed!
chrispee Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 HOTWIRE is showing a 4-star for $142 per night if you go from sept 20th to sept 23rd. when you try the 20th to the 24th, only the marina area comes up. why not just book it through HOTWIRE if you're willing to go up to $142?
