TweetyandMrClam Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Hello. I will be in New York October 13th - 17th and am looking for a room near the Javits Convention Center. I'd like to try and get a 3 star hotel for no more than $225. My top zone choice is Madison Square Garden with Hell's Kitchen as my second choice as these seem closest to the convention center. If I can get a cheap room further out, I'm also willing to consider Times Square, Midtown West, and Chelsea.I already tried bidding on Madison Square Garden today at $165 for 3.5 star and rebid with $170 for 3 stars, but no luck. Any bidding help would be appreciated, thanks!
AaronJB Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)The issue with the HK zone at the 3* level is that it's an "unknown" and additionally, there are very few hotels (less than a handful) in this area in general. I'm not even sure what would be at the 3* level in this zone (or if there is anything at the 3* level) as the Skyline Hotel is at the 2* level. There's a 3* in MTC on HOTWIRE w/fitness, restaurant, pool, internet for $219; would likely be the Holiday Inn Midtown. I'd start lower, but you may be able to get a 3* win in CPS (where this property is) for around the $175-195 neighborhood; my guess is that you're looking at a similar price (possibly slightly higher) for MSG. My guess is that you're (hopefully) not far off from a win in the desired MSG area.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
TweetyandMrClam Posted September 10, 2011 Author Report Posted September 10, 2011 I'm currently up to $180 for 3 star MSG-convention area. I'm not sure if I'll get a room for the rate I want in this zone. My boyfriend is now willing to stay further away and take a cab. Would you say CPS has cheaper rates than Chelsea, TS, MTW, or MTE? Thanks for the help, I'm keeping an eye on Hotwire as well :)
AaronJB Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 MTW and especially TS are generally the most expensive zones. While things can vary significantly from day-to-day in a city like NYC, ESB, Chelsea, CPS and MTE are generally cheaper by comparison.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
