finalwish Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 Hi,I am planning to place a bid for a 5* hotels on the north strip, but I need to get a room with 2 beds since I will have 2 kids. What are the chances to request for the 2 beds and getting it after winning the bid? Also, any good strategy on how to proceed and prices for bidding for the room 10/7 - 10/9?Thanks.
thereuare Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 Keep in mind that most of the 5* hotels in Vegas now charge extra for more than double occupancy, and along these same lines, their standard rooms only have one bed... rooms with more than one bed are often considered an upgrade. Many of the 5* hotels in the Strip North zone have a pullout sofa bed which i'm assuming would likely work for your needs, but no way to bid on PRICELINE and target a room with a pullout sofabed. You can either take the risk and deal with whatever situation arises (which may involve paying for an upgrade at check-in, if available) OR a safer bet would be to use HOTWIRE and search for 2adults/2children, although searching HOTWIRE for quad occupancy will likely increase the price a bit (vs. searching for double occupancy)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. finalwish Posted September 8, 2011 Author Report Posted September 8, 2011 I searched HOTWIRE and they have an option to select bed for a little higher price. I think I'll go with that option. It's interesting that when searching with quad occupancy a different hotel comes up (I think it's Trump) vs. double occupancy (where it has the choose beds option, where I can put in 2 beds). Do you see any issue where I choose the double occupancy with 2 beds and have kids under 12 in the room? I don't think they charge extra for children, right?
thereuare Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Many Vegas hotels do charge for anything higher then double occupancy regardless of age, but personally i wouldn't be too concerned if you're choosing an option which shows which ensures you two beds. Simply have one adults (or one adult and one child) go to the desk to check-in while the other adult/children 'linger' someplace else in the lobby or hotel. If you'd like help confirming what you think you're being offered on HOTWIRE let us know the amenities associated with the offer.If/when you purchase please post the details in this thread and we'll edit the topic title accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck. finalwish Posted September 9, 2011 Author Report Posted September 9, 2011 On Hotwire for north strip the following is offered for $155 for 2 beds 5* on 10/7-10/9 with amenities: Resort, Suite, Casino, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Golf, Tennis, Spa.I think this is either Palazzo or Venetian.
thereuare Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 The above does match previous reports for both the Venetian and the Palazzo i'd agree... either of these would be my best guess for this one.PLEASE use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your future bidding, searches and travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
