mdavid Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 Hello,I'm new to the forum as well as using HW/PL. I'm going to New York City for work and am exending my trip one day to explore the city. The company is paying for my stay during the conference at the New York Hilton (1335 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York, United States 10019). Ideally, I'd like to stay at the same hotel for convenience, but don't want to pay the $360 they are asking. I tried looking through past posts to see if anyone already asked a similar question, but did not see anything. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!Mike
AaronJB Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)There is no way to ensure/increase the odds of getting a particular property when using PRICELINE or HOTWIRE, but you could attempt to bid for/purchase a property in the same general area as your hotel, which would require a move. Please provide your desired budget/star rating and which night you are looking for.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
mdavid Posted September 8, 2011 Author Report Posted September 8, 2011 Thanks Aaron,The night I'm looking for is 9/25. My original thought was a 3 or 3.5 star. Other than to sleep, I dont plan on spending a lot of time in the room so it'd be more about location and price. Ideally, my budget would be around $120-150, but that is flexible. Since it sounds like there is no real way to pin down the New York Hilton (wasnt sure if this was possible on Hotwire or not), if I'm going to have to switch hotels anyway, I'd rather get a great deal.Mike
thereuare Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 So i'm asusming a small room, like the Hudson hotel (about ~150sq. ft.) is acceptable? At the 3.5* and under rating some MTE hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway, would this be acceptable? If both the above are acceptable (if not i'll remove zones accordingly) i would think that CPS, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW and TS should all work well for your needs at the 3.5* or 3* level. Please confirm if all these zones are acceptable, and if so, if you want to try for a 3.5* first or a 3*, and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mdavid Posted September 9, 2011 Author Report Posted September 9, 2011 Yes, a small room would not matter to me and the 15 min walk is fine (although my preference would be closer to the subway). All those zones you mentioned were good. For price, my plan was to start with a 3 star but am definately open to suggestions. Thanks for the help,Mike
