Hi all,

First let me thank you for all the info on this site, it's certainly proving helpful when trying to find a good deal on a hotel in New York. However, I am very new to bidding, and as I have been given the task to book a hotel room for me and my 2 friends, I really do not want to fail. So I am left in your capable hands.

We are looking to stay on the 3rd of September (this Saturday, late, I know). There's 3 of us but we really do not mind sharing a double bed. We are looking to stay either in the city center (as we are all students and want to have a good time, but do have a budget) or around the city, where we can get good transport links into the city, so suggestions as to where we should stay would be greatly appreciated. We are looking to do all the touristy things during the day, and explore the nightlife at night. From what I can see, prices are sky high for the date that we want, but we really do not want to spend over 200 dollars... the star rating is not much of a problem for us as long as we have a relatively comfortable bed and the hotel is clean.

Anyway, really hope you can help in such short notice, it would really mean a lot!

Many, many thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you!

Regards,

Welcome to BetterBidding!

This is one of the busiest nites in the city i've seen in a very long time and while it's possible, i think the only way you're going to be successful is if a hotel has a last minute cancellation and decides to put the inventory on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. Remember, hotels use the opaque suppliers to sell excess inventory they don't think they would otherwise be able to sell themselves... and for these dates the hotels are clearly in control.

Is it possible to postpone the trip to the following week, or even just one day to Sunday nite, which is typically the least expenisve nite of the week for hotels.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

hey! thanks for the reply. unfortunately we have to be in new york on saturday, could not do sunday. Do you think it would be better if we just book anything we find? Or should I try my luck at bidding?

Are you able to find any regular rate (non-HOTWIRE/PRICELINE) availability within your desired range for these dates in Manhattan? I'm seeing extremely limited availability (at best) and this has spilled over into the surrounding areas - HOTWIRE has nearly nothing available in the entire NYC area (only 3 listings and the cheapest is a 2* in the Newark Airport zone at $163.)

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
