moviemaker Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 I'm going to a Central Park wedding in late March 2012 in New York. I'm hoping to book a 4* hotel in either Central Park South or Midtown East. I know the board recommends bidding as soon as travel plans are firm (and they are) but I'm not getting rates anywhere close to what they were last year according to calendar of bids. I went as high as $140 and came up empty. Any opinion? Should I consider an additional area? Should I wait? Is my pricing totally unreasonable? Thanks so much. This board has been so helpful with my Priceline purchases in the past.
thereuare Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 Rates are date specific... what are the actual dates of your stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. moviemaker Posted September 1, 2011 Author Report Posted September 1, 2011 March 22-26, 2012. Sorry for leaving that out.
thereuare Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 At the 4* level CPS is one of the most expensive zones in NYC, so if you're only bidding CPS and MTE and bidding low, you're really only bidding MTE, and the hotels in this one zone may not have released deeply discounted inventory to PRICELINE yet. You may ultimately need to bid higher then last years rates (since we are seeing a significant increase in PRICELINE rates in NYC year-over-year), but at this point i'd book a cancelable back-up and continue to bid once every 10-14 days or so.Are these the only two zones you're willing to accept? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
