Hotwire Hotel: 5* Las Vegas (Strip North) - Nothing but Trump?

Hi,

I have been checking Hotwire over the last couple of weeks for a 5* North Strip hotel. So far I see only 1 choice and by description I am mostly sure that it is Trump (i.e. Kitchenette) always around $145 - 153.

Is there something I am doing wrong? I see that others have been able to get Venetian/Palazzo in the same timeframe, but I am not seeing these as choices at all. I would prefer Palazzo but anything other than Trump is OK. Ideal price range would be less than $170

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

You're not doing anything wrong - HOTWIRE does not always have inventory at every star rating for each set of dates. A number of periods in September/October appear busy and rates at the common 5* North properties look high/quite high - $300+.

Regular rates don't appear horrible for these dates (around $225-250 for the hotels in question), but HOTWIRE just doesn't have any inventory, unfortunately. You can wait and see if inventory appears, although rates could head higher while you wait and/or inventory may not be added. You can also use PRICELINE, although you may have to head towards the higher end of your budget.

Aaron, thanks for confirming my suspicion...

I am not getting any luck on Priceline either ($225 for Venetian).

However, I checked lastminutetravel.com and found opaque listing for Venetian (confirmed with BEAV method) to be $164. This sounds like an amazing deal. Is this a reliable approach? It is funny because they hardly make any attempt to hide the hotel name in the description. I can clearly tell from pictures and room name "Bella Suite" to know it is the Venetian.

thanks!

Have you tried bidding on PRICELINE or are you looking at the retail side of the service?

LMT is reliable, but keep in mind that some listings may be "on request" and not actually available. I'd try bidding on PRICELINE (if you have not already) first, with the LMT price in mind as a ceiling for bidding.

Strangely, it seems that the problem is with the night of Monday 9/12.

Someone else was just able to HOTWIRE Venetian for $153 the same weekend.

I can now see the same rate if I do 9/9 - 9/12, but not 9/13

I ended up getting a Bella Suite from LMT.com for ~$218 (w/tax) per nite for 9/10 - 9/13.

We are looking for a second room and will keep checking HOTWIRE for inventory...PRICELINE would be too risky now since we wouldn't want to end up at different hotels.

Thanks!
