cornishmanc Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 Strip vicinity 5*First bid 50 GBP (about $92) rejectedRebid same zone and class 63 GBP (about $116) acceptedHello everyone. This is the first time I have used Priceline. This forum has been a great help and I will spread the word to my friends. My wife and I, and our daughter and her boyfriend are going to Vegas and California for two weeks, firstly in Vegas then LA and San Francisco then back to Vegas. We booked the first 6 days at the Flamingo in Vegas via Expedia before discovering Priceline and this forum. I quickly read a few of the topics on this great site to reassure myself before having a go at booking a hotel. I made my booking on Thursday 2nd June. My wife's health means we cannot take chances with not having our accomodation nailed-down before we travel so I might have left things for a few days otherwise. My first ever bid was 50 GBP (UK Pounds) 5 star, Strip vicinity. That was rejected but the site stated that because I was a newbie I could have another go without having to change my criteria. Priceline told me if I bid another 13 GBP I might get a yes and so it was.63 GBP is about $115 Tax and charges went on top of this I am happy with the price, the cheapest offered on Expedia, Hotels.com etc for the Venetian was about 90 BGP.As part of our trip I had also booked a night in LA (Beverly Pavillion) and 2 nights in San Francisco (Archbishops Mansion for us and Buena Vista Motor Lodge for the youngsters) I might try getting a nice deal on 4.5 or 5* in those two cities at the last minute. One thing - I really do not like the way the US quotes prices before tax - we only have that with our budget airline and even most of them have reverted to displaying the full price.Look forward to any feedbackIanSt Ives, Cornwall
thereuare Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please use US prices in your topic titles.Priceline's suggestion of raising your bid $xx for a 'yes' is what we refer to as a counteroffer, and they can almost alway be undercut, as explained here: PRICELINE SUGGESTS PRICE TO PAY.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
