I have tried bidding on 4*'s in USE area, starting at $68 and going up to $89 using rebids. I have been bidding for the last month, but have not been successfull. I really dont want to split the bid since I do not want to have to worry about checking out / checking in.

I am going there on vacation and have never been there before. I have been bidding the USE 4* hotels since I have seen many people bidding here. Does anyone have any negative comments on the USW and FW areas?

Would I have better luck on bidding on a boutique for less?

Thanks.

Rates at the Hyatt and Omni (both USE hotels) jump substantially on the 2nd half of your stay. Surprisingly, the Marriott's rates go up, but not too much, and rates are where you would typically be accepted with a bid as high as you have already made. I'd imagine that they 'know' that demand is a bit higher for the second half of your stay and perhaps for that reason have not released inventory to the opaque suppliers at this time (if booking continue strong they won't, if they still have vacancies as the date gets closer than they might release inventory... nobody knows how it will ultimately play out, but demand is certainly up for the 2nd half of your stay which is why you may want to reconsider SPLITTING YOUR BID)

One advantage of splitting your bid is that you get to try two different hotels (and possibly) in two different areas of the city. If you really only want the USE zone i would wait it out, and then perhaps consider splitting the bid between the first half in USE and the second half in USW (after failing for the a second hotel in the USE zone). You already know that a bid has been accepted in this zone for the first half of your stay at $75, and that you were rejected for the complete stay at $89; assuming that the $75 is still available, you can figure out the 'cost' of having a continuous stay vs. the savings of splitting your bid and determine if the money involved is worth the 'hassle'.

One other approach is the first half of your stay at a 4* hotel in the USE zone and then the second half try for a Boutique property also in the USE zone.

If you absolutely don't want to split your bid, i would then look towards the USW zone where i think you can get accepted well within the bid amounts you have already made.

This is how i would bid it if you went that route where you have 4 re-bid zones avialable:

Select 4* USW....

Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone and...

Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone and...

Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone and...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone and...

Bid $89.

Indeed lowering your quality level to Boutique would better your chances in the USE zone (but keep in mind your room may be small), if you wanted to try that first i would follow the same strategy as above:

Select Boutiqe USE....

Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone and...

Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone and...

Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone and...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone and...

Bid $89.

As you can see, lot's of options! Let us know your thoughts and if you have any questions.

Good Luck and let us know what you decide to do and how it goes.

Started at $72

Added SFO and increased to $74.

Bid accepted.

I had been trying to get a hotel in USE for the last 2 months, but decided to go with USW so I would not have to split up my bid. Looks like a nice hotel.
