Priceline Hotel: Need free re-bid zones for Palm Desert

Looking for a Resort hotel in Palm Desert area (not Palm Springs) for this coming weekend. I realize it's a holiday, hoping to get something at $100/night with resort fees and tax added in. I'm planning to start bidding at $65 Resort Palm Desert. Then go to $70 Resort Palm Desert + Palm Springs (is this a free re-bid zones since there are no resorts in Palm Springs?) Can I use the Indio location too? I didn't see Indio in our Hotels List - CA. Thanks!

When bidding Resort in this area both Palm Springs and Indio are currently re-bid zones, but you should know how to check these on your own since they can change at any time and therefore should be confirmed just before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed. You don't want to use the hotel lists to determine your re-bid zones, you only want to use the method described here: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained. Please read the previous thread and feel free to ask any questions if you're unsure.

With the above noted, i suspect this area may be busy during this holiday weekend and $100 all-in may not be enough for a Resort rated hotel.

I started at $70, used free re-bid zones for Resort Hotel. Went to $85, nothing. I believe Sunday rate is cheaper than Saturday, so not sure where the average will end up. We will probably book through points.

I read that re-bid strategy post you shared with me, but I don't understand when you say NOT to use the Hotels list to determine re-bid zones since you need to know (for ex), if Palm Springs has any Resort class hotels to know if it's a free re-bid zone. Can you clarify?

Try this:

1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter 'Palm Desert' and your dates, and click "GO".

2) List each zone that is offered in this region.

3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.

4) post your findings and we'll take it from there

If you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further.
