LukeyLou2 Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Moved my search on the Hood River Mt Hood part of my hotel search here. Thanks to the moderator informing me that the single hotel coming up on my search in the Priceline retail side didn't mean that was the only hotel that would come up on the Priceline "name your own price" side". However, if the latter side only shows one hotel at that star level it seems probable (to me) that it w/b the same as the single entry on the retail side--not certain, but probable. That said, I'll go for the 2* Hood River options on Oct. 9 & 10 -- don't want to go over $70. If that doesn't work, I may add 1* but won't go over $50 or $55. If need be, I can move to the Welches area or Sandy on the 10th as I'm doing a Columbia Gorge loop. It seems there are no hotels offered on Priceline in Government Camp for Sept or early Oct.--they must assume they will be full. Thanks for help/comments.
thereuare Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 With time on your side but no re-bid zones, i'd start at $50. If rejected wait 24 hours and increase your bid by $5, repeat over the next 3-4 days until you reach your maximum $70 bid.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and keep us updated on your progress. LukeyLou2 Posted August 31, 2011 Author Report Posted August 31, 2011 Update: No joy in Mudville... Have already bid at $75, got the notice I would have little chance winning as 2* averaged $129 and was rejected. Will book 1* Sunset through Hotel.com at $69 as fallback and try for the 2* again closer to my arrival. Must be a prime week--the weekend before is the 40th Portland Marathon so everything in downtown is pretty booked up.
