Jay Caruso Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 I can't even keep track of all the bids I made that failed starting yesterday. Had a friend that stays in the area often and said to try Lincoln Park. Started again today. Bid $90 for 2* in Lincoln Park - RejectedAdded Franklin Park at $95 - RejectedAdded Hyde Park at $100 - RejectedAdded Millennium Park, Loop at $105 - RejectedAdded Greater Chicago at $110 - RejectedFinally accepted at $115 when adding North Michigan Avenue and got the 3* as an upgrade. Many thanks to the tips on re-bidding which I am sure helped in this process!

Jay Caruso Posted August 27, 2011 Author Report Posted August 27, 2011 Just wanted to add the address of this Residence Inn to be more specific. 201 East Walton Place
AaronJB Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Thank you for the follow-up. I'll suggest that you request a room facing North on one of the top couple of floors - if successful, you may get a pretty nice (although partial) view of the lake.
Jay Caruso Posted August 27, 2011 Author Report Posted August 27, 2011 Thanks Aaron. Any insight as to how flexible they are with changing rooms? I am going to a conference nearby and there will be 3 of us (guys) sharing one room. One guy said he is willing to sleep on the floor, but if there is the possibility of switching to a 2BR suite, nobody would have sleep on the floor nor would we have to pay for a rollaway.
szwliew Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 You can always try slipping the receptionist $20
AaronJB Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 You are likely looking at a studio room at this property, which are fairly sizable (this was previously an apartment building), but only have one bed and sofabed. There is also a larger 1BR with 1bed/1sofabed, but the bedding is still 1/1. The 2BR room has two beds, but is $100 more expensive than the studio room. If 1 bed and 1 sofabed is fine, then you may want to just stick with the studio room. If two beds would be better, there are no guarantees - and it may depend on who you talk to - but I would call the hotel and try to negotiate. If they say no over the phone, try again at check-in.
