JonesADeal Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Hi. This may be my first time looking to book through Hotwire or Priceline. We are looking to stay in a 5* September 17 thru 21st (4 nights), a sort of romantic post baby get-away. My wife has her eyes on the Palazzo or Venetian, I rather like the Vdara, Cosmo or Wynn. We were originally budgeting a flexible $250 a night, but after looking at HW and PL I decided it is likely worth trying those and save a few hundered potentially. I realize that the Saturday is making the price for our stay higher than expected as well.I am actively watching Hotwire and this forum has been a big help in identifying potential hotels.Apparently my wife isn't overly interested in the Trump, which I beleive was on HW for $146 earlier today. Which makes me hesitant to use Priceline if we get put there. Also I saw what I believe was the Venetian for $196 yesterday (which I would have booked having browsed this forum more now).Any advice would be helpful, but my main question would be what are my options for upgrading a room? I was not able to find this info, and it would seem that anything booked would be a "standard" room ... in case we wanted something a little more special (not that most rooms dont already look great)Also am I better off to jump on a deal now, or will it be more difficult closer to trip date? Thanks ...
thereuare Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! As far as purchasing now or later, there is no clear-cut answer, it all depends upon hotel occupancy, how new reservations and cancellations received by the hotel come in relative to expectations, etc, etc. See the related 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ.As you mention PRICELINE and HOTWIRE rooms are for 'standard' rooms (which at the 5* hotel strip hotels are already quite nice! ) and the ability to upgrade will be based upon availability at the time of check-in.Current Trump is in PRICELINE's Strip North Condo zone so you should be able to avoid that property by not including this zone in your bidding. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. JonesADeal Posted August 25, 2011 Author Report Posted August 25, 2011 Woot! My first Hotwire bid! The deal just came up a few minutes ago, I have been trolling it for 2 days. The wife got her wish .... just booked the Palazzo for $173 a night, came to just under $800 with taxes, even with a Saturday night stay!!!!!The hotel site was listing it as $1036 plus tax.================================================================LAS VEGAS - NORTH - 5 STARResort - Suite - Casino - Fitness - Pool - Restuarants - Business - Internet - Golf - Tennis - SPA================================================================Honestly, I can't believe it! If I forgot any info let me know and I'll post.Sorry I didn't do the header and topic like the others in the list, I tried to edit, but couldnt figure out how.
AaronJB Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Congrats on your success and Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Excellent deal for this 5* Vegas property! JonesADeal Posted August 26, 2011 Author Report Posted August 26, 2011 OH. I forgot to mention there included a bed choice, which somehow I forgot to include and subsequrntly make a selection. However I am hoping for a King, which seems to be the standard, the 2 queens more of an option *I hope*I am likely going to sandwich a $20 and see what happens either way. Thanks again, better bidding, couldnt have dont it without you!
thereuare Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Yes, one King bed is standard here... two Queens is actually a (usually) paid upgrade.Have a great trip and have fun in Vegas. JonesADeal Posted August 26, 2011 Author Report Posted August 26, 2011 LOLOn a further note, I recall the Ad having the super savings title and that 95% or customers liked this propoerty. I dont know if that differs from day to day or if other hotels are slightly lower? Not sure if thats any help. Could have said 90%, but I believe it was 95% ? I see the same deal offered today still, but it now says 90% and somehow I think the Palazzo was 95% ?Anyway, thx
thereuare Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 The 'percent recommended' figure often fluctuates from one search to the next (within reason) and therefore is not a reliable indicator in helping in identifying hotels. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
