bolts221 Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 Hi everyone,I've been trying to get a similar deal I've been seeing for the W Hotel in MTE for $150-185. The dates I need are 10/12-14, but I haven't had any success.Here are the bid's I've tried:4* TS - $1504* +MTE - $1604* +MTW - $1754* +MSG - $1854* +CPS - $1904* +HK - $195Can anyone provide suggestions?Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates are date specific, so you (often) won't always be able to replicate another user's win if rates for your own dates are higher then when the other user won. Unfortunately at the moment rates for your dates are quite high, i'm guessing that you're likely looking in the high-$200's to be success for a 4* hotel in Midtown. What is the best deal you're able to find thru conventional booking channels? What is your maximum bid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bolts221 Posted August 25, 2011 Author Report Posted August 25, 2011 Places like Orbitz are offering the W for around $479-529 it looks. I'd like to go no higher than $250. What would you recommend for that? Would lowering to 3.5* help? Thanks.
thereuare Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 You may (it's a bit of a reach but possible) succeed at the 3.5* level at $250 if you expand into all of midtown... which zone(s) are you willing to accept at the 3.5* level? Did you want to try for a 4* first before attempting 3.5*? (if so, please indicate which zone(s) you're willing to accept at the 4* level)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bolts221 Posted August 26, 2011 Author Report Posted August 26, 2011 Here are the zones I'd be willing to accept:TS, MTW, MTE, MSG, CPS, ESB, CA, HK and maybe DowntownThanks!
thereuare Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Did you want to try for a 4* first up to $250 OR try for the least expensive 3.5* or better in any of your acceptable zones? With maybe Downtown should we include this zone in a strategy or not? Please confirm the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bolts221 Posted August 27, 2011 Author Report Posted August 27, 2011 I'd say try for the 4* up to $250 first. If that doesn't work, then try the least expensive 3.5*. Yes, lets leave Downtown out for now. Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zone... at the 3.5* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If the above is rejected and you then want to try for a 3.5* property, note that at the 3.5* level and under the CPS has the Hudson hotel which has notoriously small rooms, and in the MTE zone some of the hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... are both of these conditions acceptable? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how the first round of bidding goes.
