drew23 Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 Hi, I am planning a trip for my wife and I to cancun to attend a friends wedding at the Moon Palace. I can't afford to stay there but we will need to visit for a day. I am hoping to use the methods described in other posts to get the Omni for around $80. Is the end of July a busy time of the year? I think that the Omni is a resort on priceline and I get two free bids but i don't know about this $10 discount for being new. How do I get it and does $80 sound reasonable. Thanks.
thereuare Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding!July is not necessarily a busy time of year.Keep in mind the Moon Palace is a bit far from the 'hotel zone', so it is not going to be very inexpensive to take a cab from there.Is the Moon Palace way out of your price range... i have a source that can get some pretty good deals there (8 days/7 nites for about $1000/pp... it ain't cheap relative to the opaque services, but i believe that's a pretty good deal for that property)Let us know if you want to go with priceline or hotwire and we'll suggest how to proceed with either. We don't usually drink or eat enough to justify the AI cost but I will fork over the money for one day due to the wedding. The rest of the week we like to go to different places and stock up at Walmart for drinks at the beach. So in other words - Moon Palace is not in the cards.I used hotwire to book the Omni two years ago in March and only paid $99 per night during spring break. Fantastic hotel. It looks like I should be able to get a room for about $70-$80 per night during the summer through priceline or Hotwire. This site has been very helpfull about using Priceline but I may use Hotwire if I can get $10 off per night. I think the Omni is a 3 1/2 star on Hotwire? I know its a Resort hotel on Priceline. Any extra help will be appreciated. Thanks again.

drew23 Posted June 7, 2005 Author Report Posted June 7, 2005 No. The 3 1/2 star listed on Hotwire for July 23-30 is near beach with restaurants,pools, children's activity program and laundry. Near beach? Maybe the Radison? Hotwire doesn't look good!! The four star is way too expensive and we want to be on the beach. I will keep checking back but it looks like priceline may be the option.
