AZIrish Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 Hi--I need to stay in Chicago October 6-9th and am targeting the North Michigan Avenue-Gold Coast Area (considering Magnificent Mile-Streeterville but thinking it is a bit South of where I ideally want to be). I have re-bid on Priceline my max times for 24 hours on 4 star hotels, with my last rejection at 151 dollars per night. Hotwire has a 4* hotel in NMA-Gold Coast with a 4/5 trip advisor rating, a 95% hotwire recommended rating, and the amenities are business center, restaurant, fitness center and high speed internet. My questions are:--Should I wait closer to my trip dates to book a hotel?--What hotel do you think this is at 189/night and is it a great deal for my dates? Thanks so much! I'm new to this forum so appreciate any advice. I'm nervous to wait too long to book a hotel for fear of even higher rates, but of course want a great deal too...
AZIrish Posted August 24, 2011 Author Report Posted August 24, 2011 Hi--I need to stay in Chicago October 6-9th and am targeting the North Michigan Avenue/River North Area. I have re-bid on Priceline my max times for 24 hours on 4 star hotels, with my last rejection at 151 dollars per night. --Should I wait closer to my trip dates to book a hotel?--What should be my max bid from this point forward? Thanks so much! I'm new to this forum so appreciate any advice. I'm nervous to wait too long to book a hotel for fear of even higher rates, but of course want a great deal too...
AaronJB Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. Please see the section of the FAQ regarding whether or not prices may drop or rise closer to the stay.I will note that the 9th is the Chicago Marathon, which is traditionally one of the more expensive weekends of the year in the city - there will definitely be demand for the night of the 8th and possibly a bit on the 7th from people coming in for the Marathon. If you look at the night of the 8th *only* on HOTWIRE, it is significantly more expensive. The 4* NMA listing is a possible match for a number of properties, including the Whitehall, Allerton, Westin Michigan Ave, Omni, Whitehall, Sutton Place, Avenue and Knickerbocker. What would be your desired max per night for this stay?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
AZIrish Posted August 24, 2011 Author Report Posted August 24, 2011 Thanks for the advice--I read the FAQ and hadn't realized the Chicago Marathon was that weekend. I went ahead and booked through this site's HOTWIRE link and got the Millenium Knickerbocker--happy with my deal!
